Abstract
The physiological effects of plant growth regulators ABA and MH on rice seed germination were studied in this paper. Both ABA and MH could effectively inhibit the seed germination. However the germination inhibiting effects of MH was a process of decreasing or injuring seed activity, whereas ABA action model was a germination retarding process. The respiration rate and GA 1 content in sprouting seeds were decreased by MH treatment. The respiration peak was lagged and decreased by ABA treatment, but there was no significant decrease for GA 1 content in ABA treated sprouting seeds.
