Abstract

Objective:To explore the safety of epidural block combined with general anesthesia for preventing the cardiovascular response to tracheal intubation.Methods:64 patients were randomly divided into two groups: A group,single general anesthesia;B group,epidural block combined with general anesthesia.Heart rate,systolic and diastolic,and mean artery blood pressures(MAP) were measured following the induction and 1 to 10 minutes following the incubation.Results:The patients in the A groups had greater HR and MAP values after anesthesia induction and tracheal intubation than the patients in the B groups(P0.05).The incidence of tachycardia after intubation was higher in the A group(61.2%) than in the B group(21.0%).Conclusion:Epidural block combined with general anesthesia is effective and safe for preventing the haemodynamic response to tracheal intubation.
