The Reduplicative Placing System of 儿 Rhyme in FangCheng Dialect

Phonetic materials from different historical periods coexist in the phonetic system of one dialect which is called placing system. and , the two phonemes in Fangcheng dialect of Hunan province together constitute the reduplicative placing system of “儿” rhyme. With being the same as it in standard Chinese, this paper aims from four aspects to bear out the idea that “儿” rhyme in Fangcheng dialect functions as the earlier phonetic value of in the phonetic history of , and thus make the phonetic history achieve consummation.
