Abstract

Objective To study the influence of gentamycin via aerosol on the function of alveolar macrophage(AM) in the lungs of rats with severe head injury(SHI).Methods The model of SHI was established by local impact injury.Forty male SD rats were divided randomly into normal group(NG,n=4),control group(CG,n=18) and experimental group(EG,n=18).The control group inhaled normal saline via aerosol. The experimental group inhaled gentamycin via aerosol after injury. The phagocyting function of AM was investigated by Oidium albicans and the level of TNF-α and IL-6 in BALF were investigated by radioimmunity. Results The phagocyting percentage of EG(0.415±0.089)on day 7 was markedly lower than that of CG(0.560±0.075),P0.01.IL-6 of EG(317.335±53.319) in BALF on day 7 was significant less than that of CG(554.604±17.833),P0.01.Conclusion Long-term administration of gentamycin via aerosol can obviously reduce the phagocyting percentage of AM as well as IL-6 in BALF in SHI rats.
