Abstract
Objective To optimize the process of extraction of ephedrine and pseudoephedrine from Herba Ephedra. Methods Orthogonal test L9(33) was employed to optimize the extraction conditions of ephedrine hydrochloride and pseudoephedrine hydrochloride. The content of ephedrine and pseudoephedrine was determined by reversed phase high-performance liquid chromatography. Results The optimum extraction condition was A1B3C1,that is,adding 14 times as much 50% ethanol containing 0.75% hydrochloric acid, extracted twice for 0.5 hour. Conclusion This extraction method is valid and feasible.
