Abstract
XIN belongs to confucians' ethic category, has a similar meaning with CHENG and YI, which contributes to the realization of REN and YI. Shuowenjiezi interprets XIN as honest andtrustworthy, and this is the very meaning which exists in the Analectes. However, due to the dissimilarity between the Eastern and Western cultures, there are various translations of XIN in English. Considering the importance of translation in cross-cultural communication,it is necessary to examin and distinguish the translations among the different versions.
