Studies on the Religious Character of Confucianism of Du Weiming

One of the most important issues of the study on Confucianism in 20th century is about the religious character of Confucianism,on which Du Weiming,one of the scholars of the third generation new-confucianists,not only accepts the results of the antecessors,but also moves forward.Two ideas about the religious character of Confucianism are: one is Confucianism,both immanent and transcendent,the other is the wisdom of ultimate self-transformation in society which emphasizes the importance of fiduciary community in self-cultivating,and the second idea makes his study distinctive.
