Relationship among the levels of homocysteine,uric acid and the stability of carotid atherosclerotic plaque in patients with cerebral infarction

Abstract

Objective To investigate the relationship among the levels of homocysteine(Hcy) and uric acid(UA) in serum and carotid atherosclerotic plaque in Patients with cerebral infarction.Methods A total of 170 patients with cerebral infarction were divided into no-plaque group,unstable plaque group,and stable plaque group with carotid ultrasonography.The levels of Hcy and UA were measured.Then the relationship of the serum levels of Hcy,UA,and carotid atherosclerotic plaque was analyzed.Results The serum levels of Hcy and UA in unstable plaque group was higher than that in no-plaque group and stable plaque group(P0.05,P0.01).The formation rate of carotid atherosclerotic unstable plague showed increase trend with the serum Hcy and UA level increased.Conclusion The levels of Hcy and UA are closely related to the formation and stability of carotid atherosclerotic plaque.
