Abstract

Aim:To discuss the relations between the stability of carotid atherosclerosis plaques and blood C-reactive protein and uric acid levels in cerebral infarction patients. Methods:The stability of atherosclerosis plaques in the carotid arteries of 90 patients with cerebral infarction located in internal carotid artery system was diagnosed using ultrasonography, and blood C-reactive protein(CRP) and uric acid(UA) levels were detected. Results:The patients were divided into unstable plaque group(n = 30),stable plaque group(n = 43) and non-plaque group(n = 17),and the detection rate of carotid plaque was 81.1%(73 /90).There were significant differences in blood CRP and UA levels among the 3 groups(F was 8.802,61.813,respectively,P 0.001).Blood CRP and UA levels in the unstable plaque group was higher than those in the stable plaque and non-plaque groups(P 0.05),and UA level in the stable plaque group was higher than those in the non-plaque group(P 0.05).Blood CRP level was positively correlated with that of UA(r = 0.558,P = 0.019).Conclusion:Blood CRP and UA levels may be associated with the stability of carotid artery atherosclerotic plaque.
