Abstract

Currently,the cognitive study of metonymy focuses on the perspective of conceptual contiguity.The perspective is both grounded on the traditional structuralist definition of metonymy and regarded as its extension.The research that regards metonymy as a prototypical category from the angle of Prototype Theory has a significant influence on the present study of metonymy,which inquires into a further exploration.
