Study on the Catalytic Synthesis of Propyl Lactate by the Rare Earth Solid Superacid SO_4~(2-)/TiO_2-CeO_2

Abstract

For researching reaction mechanism of α-hydroxyl acids esterification,a rare earth solid superacid catalyst SO_4~(2-)/TiO_2-CeO_2 has been prepared. The optimal reaction conditions and catalysis reaction dynamics catalyzed synthesis of propyl lactate is studied with the rare earth solid superacid as catalyst.Experiment shows that the catalytic activity of the titanic solid superacid catalyst modified by Ce~(4+) has higher than that of the rare sulfate or the titanic solid superacid.As carry water reagent with benzene,molar ratio of lactic acid to 1-propanol is 1∶2.0,the weight of catalyst is 1.0 g/0.1 mol lactic acid,the reaction temperature is 120 ℃ and the reaction time is 120 min.The ratio of the esterification could reach over 96.5%.
