Abstract
Objective To study the serum phosphate level in systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS) patients,the relationship between the serum phosphate level and SIRS and provide a simple and reliable index for judging the prognosis of SIRS.Methods 108 cases in our ICU who suffered from SIRS were enrolled in the study.Acute physiology and chronic health evaluation Ⅱ (APACHE Ⅱ) scores and the serum phosphate were monitored in ICU on the third day after hospitalization.All cases were divided into (1) the normal phosphate group and the hypophosphatemia group:the APACHE Ⅱ scores and the rate of the multiple organ dysfunction syndrome (MODS) and mortality were analy zed;(2) the survived and non-survived groups:Only the serum phosphate level was analy zed.Results the APACHE Ⅱ scores and the rate of MODS and mortality of the normal phosphate group and the hypophosphatemia group were significantly different (P0.05).the hypophosphatemia cases and the serum phosphate level of the survived and non-survived groups were significantly different (P0.05).Conclusion The serum phosphate level can reflect the state and prognosis of the SIRS accurately and sensitively and can be used as one of the simple and reliable indexes for judging the outcome of SIRS.
