Abstract
Objective:To analyze expression and the correlation of PTEN/mTOR and HER2 in osteosarcoma and to investigate the roles of these genes in development and progression of osteosarcoma.Methods:HER2 and PTEN/mTOR were detected by S-P immunohistochemiscal method in 30 cases of paraffinem bedded osteosarcoma sections. Results:The rate of HER2 expression was 60.0% in osteosarcoma tissues; The positive rate of PTEN in the nucleus of osteosarcoma was 53.3%;mTOR expression was not detected in any tumor tissues.Patients with preoperative chemotherapy had a lower expression of HER2 (30%) than that without preoperative chemotherapy (75%) (P=0.042).Conclusion:HER2 and PTEN may play an important role in carcinogenesis of osteosarcoma. The detection might be a guide for early diagnosis of osteosarcoma. The detection of HER2 might be a role in determining the efficacy of preoperative chemotherapy.
