Abstract

Objective To investigate the expression of MMP-9 and PTEN in osteosarcoma and their relationship, and to explore their role in the occurrence and development of osteosarcoma. Methods Expression of MMP-9 and PTEN proteins was examined using immunohistochemical SP staining method in 35 cases of osteosarcoma and 32 cases of osteochondroma. Results The expression of MMP-9 protein in osteosarcoma was significantly higher than that in osteochondroma. The expression of PTEN protein in osteosarcoma was significantly lower than that in osteochondroma.Negative correlation was observed between the expression of MMP-9 and PTEN in osteosarcoma(r=-0.621,P0.05). Conclusion MMP-9 and PTEN may play an important role in the occurrence and development of osteosarcoma.Combined detection of MMP-9 and PTEN expression is of certain significance in early diagnosis.
