Abstract

Objective To investigate the effect of penehyclidine hydrochloride on the expression of VEGF,and significance of VEGF in early diagnosis after early lung injury in rats. Methods Thirty male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomized to five groups(control group, model group, and other 3 groups of different dose of penehyclidine hydrochloride). Each group included 6 rats.Sprague-Dawley rats were injected with LPS to set up the systemic inflammatory response syndrome(SIRS)-acute lung injury(ALI)model.Expression of VEGF in lung and blood serum were observed by using enzyme-linked immuno-specific assay.Lung tissue wet-to-dry weight ratio and myeloperoxidase concentration were determined, respectively.Superoxide dismutase activity was also assessed. The change of lung tissue was seen with light microscopy. Results Expression of VEGF in lung and blood serum was significantly decreased when treated with penehyclidine hydrochloride before LPS as well as the myeloproxidase activity, but superoxide dismutase activity was increased(P0.05).Conclusions Penehyclidine hydrochloride could inhibit the expression of VEGF in early lung injury, and induce protection;VEGF could suggest early lung injury.
