Abstract

Objective:To explore the effects of statins in recurrence cerebral infarction.Methods:579 patients with cerebral infarction were randomly divided into aspirin group(286 cases)and the atorvastatin group(293 cases),and the patients in both groups were given aspirin as routine treatment, however, the patients in atorvastatin group were Also administered atorvastatin 20 mg every night. The duration of follow-up was 6 to 36months.Results:57 patients suffered new cerebral infarction during follow-up period in aspirin group(19.9%); On the other hand,28 patients suffered new cerebral Infarction during follow-up period in the atorvastatin group(9.6%).There was asignificant differentce between the two groups(P0.05).Conclusion:Atorvastatin can decrease the recurrence rate of cerebral infarction on the basis of aspirin treatment.
