Abstract

The wheat seedlings were treated with iso-osmotic NaCl and PEG at three leaf stage and some physiological indexes were determined after three days. The results showed that the water relative content and chlorophyll content of leaves decreased, the membrance relative permeability and MDA content increased, the prolinel content increased and the osmotic potential decreased highly. The soluble content of wheat decreased under the NaCl stress but increased under the iso-osmotic PEG stress.Comparing the injury between the iso-osmotic NaCl and PEG stress,it was greater under NaCl stess than PEG stress. It shows that the ionic stress is as important as the osmotic stress in the salt stress.
