Abstract

The Zea mays L.seedlings were treated with iso-osmotic NaCl and PEG at three leaf stage and some physiological indexes were determined in 5 days. The results showed that the chlorophyll content of leaves decreased, the MDA content and the prolinel content increased and the osmotic potential decreased highly. The activities of SOD and POD increased.Comparison the injury between the iso-osmotic NaCl and PEG stress,it iwas greater under NaCl stess than PEG stress, but the change tendency was different. It showed that the stress mechanism between the NaCl and PEG is different.
