Abstract

Objective To study the method and effect of nasal endoscopic dacryocystorhinostomy in treatment of chronic dacryocystitis. Methods Fifty eight patients(61eyes) suffering from chronic dacryocystitis received nasal endoscopic dacryocystorhinostomy from January 2000 to December 2007.Their clinical data were retrospectively analyzed. Results Among all 61 eyes,47 eyes(77.05%) were cured,8 eyes(13.11%) were obviously improved,2 eyes(3.28%) improved,4 eyes were failed and the total effective rate was 93.44% after postoperative follow-up for six to nine months. Conclusion Nasal endoscopic dacryocystorhinostomy is an effective surgical procedure for treatment of chronic dacryocystitis.Acquaintance with correlative anatomy, firm mastery of the surgical technique, and postoperative follow-up are important for the success of nasal endoscopic dacryocystorhinostomy.
