Abstract

Objective To understand the blood lead levels of children aged 0-12 years in Muping. Methods The blood lead levels of 2 529 children aged 0-12 years in Muping were determined from July 2003 to July 2006. Results The medians of blood lead levels and lead poisoning ratio of boys were significantly higher than that of girls(t=4.18,P0.05;χ2=5.39,P0.05).The medians of blood lead levels and lead poisoning ratio of 1-3-year-old group was the highest, while that of 0-1-year-old group was the lowest, the different was dramatically significant(F=108.37,q=15.28-37.86,P0.01;χ2=115.2,P0.01). Conclusion Lead pollution has caused adverse effects on children health, further investigation should be carried out to look for the contaminated sources in order to prevent lead poisoning.
