Application of propofol anesthesia in patients undergoing fiberoptic bronchoscopy check-up

Objective To explore the feasibility and safety of application of propofol anesthesia in patients undergoing fiberoptic bronchoscopy check-up.Methods The patients scheduled to undergo fiberoptic bronchoscopy check-up were divided into Group A in which the patients undertook surface anesthesia and Group B in which the patients undertook propofol anesthesia randomly.Vital signs,status of consciousness,body movements and awareness of the patients in anesthesia were observed.Results The patients in Group A showed clarity of consciousness,overmany body movements,steady SpO_2 but significant increase of heart rate and blood pressure.All of the patients compained of the uncomfortable experience of check-up after operation.Nevertheless,those in Group B showed loss of consciousness,less body movements,short-time decrease of SpO_2,heart rate and blood pressure but the magnitude of change limited in the range of clinic safty.No one compained of evident uncomfortable experience of check-up and operating awareness.Conclusion Application of propofol anesthesia in patients undergoing fiberoptic bronchoscopy check-up is safe and useful to diminish the uncomfortable feeling from operation.
