Abstract
Objective To evaluate the effect of malaria control in the area where the main transmission vector was Anopheles anthropophagus in Fujian Province. Methods The surveillance of both malaria cases and vectors has been conducted in the area since 1988. Two villages in Tongyou Town,Jianyang City and Shuibei Twon,Shaowu City were selected for longitudinal observation respectively. The items included capturing Anopheles in nets or rooms, identifying the species, calculating density, and detecting plasmodium in blood film for fever patients, every year during malaria epidemic season. Results No An. anthropophagus was caught in 263 villages formerly distributed the kind of mosquito and in two longitudinal observation spots. The No. of fever patients with plasmodiun positive reduced from 1 315 in 1988 to 3 in 2001. Conclusion The malaria control measures in Fujian are effective and the achievement is solidified.
