Abstract

The issue of the relationship between Buddhism and Confucianism is a culture phenomenon of having profound influence in Chinese ideological history.Since modern and contemporary times,faced with Chinese culture hazard,thinkers have attempted to sustain the traditional culture value and respond to the western thoughts via Confucianism's self-revolution and reconstruction.During that process,Buddhism's bumper and profound ideological connotation became an important theoretical tool used by thinkers to reconstruct Confucianism,and the people such as Liang Shuming,Xiong Shili,Tang Junyi and Mou Zong did not only have great influence but also establish a comparable complete philosophy systems and moreover have much association with Buddhism in constructing their own ideological system.Thus,it is supposed to be a quite valuable subject,which mainly focuses on the relationship between their ideological systems with Buddhism,to reveal the chief characteristics of Buddhism's influence upon the thoughts of the 1st and 2nd generation neo-Confucianism thinkers and the causes producing those characteristics.
