Abstract

Objective To study the diagnosing value of imprint cytology and to improve the accuracy of the rapid intraoperative diagnosis of breast masses. Methods 154 cases with breast masses were detected by both imprint cytology and frozen section during operation, and the results were compared with the postoperation histopathologic diagnosis. Results 145 cases were diagnosed correctly with frozen section(145/154,94.16%),144 were diagnosed correctly with imprint cytology(144/154,93.51%),and 150 cases were diagnosed correctly by combination of imprint cytology and frozen section(150/154,97.4%).Conclusions Combination of imprint cytology and frozen section detection during operation could increase the accuracy of rapid imtraoperative diagnosis of breast masses.
