Clinical observation of three dimensional conformal radiotherapy concurrently combined with chemotherapy for stage III non-small cell lung cancer

Objective:To observe the curative effects,side effects and survival time of conventional radiotherapy(CRT)and three dimensional conformal radiotherapy(3DCRT) concurrently combined with chemotherapy for inoperable stage Ⅲ non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC).Methods: Sixty one patients with stage Ⅲ NSCLC were randomized into two groups: 31 patients received 3DCRT concurrently combined with chemotherapy as the conformal group and 30 patients treated with CRT concurrently combined with chemotherapy as the conventional group.Patients in two groups were treated with inductive Cisplatin basement chemotherapy for two cycles and followed by 3DCRT or CRT.For radiotherapy,we all applied conventional fractionation method and a total dose was 66Gy/33F.the patients was given chemotherapy for two cycles during radiotherapy.Results: The total short-term effective rates in the conformal group and conventional group were 87.1% and 63.3%(P0.05);the median overall survival time was 17 months and 14.5months;1-year and 2-year local control rates were 77.4%,53.3%(P0.05) and 54.8%,29.0%(P0.05);1-year and 2-year survival rates were 70.9%,46.7%(P0.05) and 45.2%,20.0%(P0.05).Conclusion: Compared with the conventiona group,the conformal group might be helpful to improve short-term efficacy and overall survival rates,but the side effect in conformal group is lighter.
