Abstract

Xuanwu is the centre of Wudang Taoist Worship and belief, exercising its influence in all kinds of Taoist activities. The image of Xuanwu, the tortorse, and its longivity, are two important objects the Wudang martial artists try to imitate, which adds religious colour to the martial activities.
