New Approach to the Study of Jin Dialect

Abstract

Jin dialect is the only northern one which still reserves the entering tone or ru shengin China now.Along with the influence of Mandarin,the characteristics of ru shengchange obviously in all the Jin dialect and it is vanishing gradually.Traditional research methods of dialect cannot satisfy the requirement of the study of Jin dialect.This paper attempts to find a new approach,which can be called Variable Rule Analysis based on the theory of variation in sociolinguistics.
