Abstract

This paper argues the close relation between Nanchu Dialectand Chu Dialect by analysing the place names which appear in the same antry in DIALECT written by Yang Xiong in Western Han Dynasty, the words used by Nanchu people as well as by Chu people, and the words of Nanchu Dialect which appear in CHUCI. This paper also argues the territorial disequilibrium of the influence which Chu Dialect exerted to Nanchu Dialect.
