Abstract
Objective:To explore the relationship between the serum adiponectin concentration in patients with metabolic syndrome and insulin resistance.Methods:The serum samples from thirty five patients with metabolic syndrome,and twenty healthy people were taken for the determination of adiponectin,insulin,glucose,insulin sensitivity index(ISI) and insulin resistance index(IRI).Results:The serum adiponectin level and ISI in the metabolic syndrome group were significantly lower than those in the control group.(P0.01),while the insulin,glucose and IRI were significantly higher in metabolic syndrome groups than those in healthy persons(P0.01).The serum adiponectin level was negatively correlated with insulin,glucose and IRI,but positively with ISI.Conclusion:There is a significant correlation between the lower serum adiponectin level and the insulin resistance.
