HIV Voluntary Counseling and Testing in Futian District of Shenzhen,2012

Objective To analyze the status of HIV voluntary counseling and testing(VCT) in Futian district of Shenzhen in 2012 and to provide evidences for adjusting VCT strategies.Methods Data of VCT and lab testing results were collected and analyzed with statistical method.Results There were totally 4,534 individuals received counseling and testing,with a male-to-female ratio of 1.6:l.The majority were young adults of 15-44 years old(79.4%).The constituent portion were respectively: heterosexual contact with non-commercial and floating partners,24.2%;commercial heterosexual services,16.7%;male homosexual contacts,3.8%;operation history,3.0% and drug addicts,0.1%.Altogether 67(1.5%) HIV-positive cases were detected,among which male homosexual contact took a high proportion of 34.3%.Conclusion Male VCTs are more than the females in Futian district in 2012.The proportion of male homosexual contactors take a considerable portion of the positive cases,suggesting strengthened education measures should timely be taken towards the vulnerable population.
