Results of HIV voluntary counseling and testing in Futian district of Shenzhen city in 2011-2012

Objective To analyze the results of HIV voluntary counseling and testing(VCT)in Futian of Shenzhen city in 2011 and 2012 and to provide evidence for the adjustment of VCT strategy.Methods The data of HIV VCT in Futian District was collected and analyzed.Results Totally 7 105 persons were voluntarily consulted in 2011-2012 with a male:female ratio of 1.4:l;most of them were in the age group of 15~44 years 80.9%)including male heterosexual contact not being commercial and fixed(3.9%),female commercial sex services(16.4%),male homosexual contacts(9.7%),with operation history(2.3%)and drug addicts(0.1%).Antibody to HIV were detected from 108 VCT consultants with the positive rate of 1.5%(108/7105) among them male homosexual contact accounted for 25%.Conclusions Most of the HIV VCT consultants were males and their main high risk behavior was sexual contact,the proportion of male homosexual contact among the positives was higher,suggesting that health education aimed at the behavioral changes of the high risk group after HIV VCT should be stgrngthened.
