An analysis of influencing factors and status of HIV voluntary counseling and testing in Futian District of Shenzhen in 2008-2012

Objective To analyze the influencing factors and status of human immunodeficiency virus(HIV)voluntary counseling and testing(VCT)in Futian District of Shenzhen from 2008 to 2012.Methods The information of VCT in Futian District of Shenzhen from 2008 to 2012was collected and analyzed.Results A total of 16294 clients received VCT service.Among them 7424(45.56%)had unmarried heterosexual sex behavior,513(3.15%) were men who had sex with men(MSM),320(1.96%)had blood transfusion/blood donation,198(1.22%) had positive regular sexual partners or spouse,and 24(0.15%) had history of drug injection.There were 156(0.96%)positive cases among 16 294 clients tested.Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that HIV positive rate was significantly associated with gender,types of counseling,history of detection,syphilis antibody and detection date.Conclusion VCT plays an important role in HIV identification,and it is necessary to strengthen health education and behavior intervention in high-risk groups.
