TWO NEW SPECIES OP EUCOTYLID TREMATODES FROM BIRDS OF GUANG-DONG PROVINCE,CHINA

There are two new species of kidney trematodes belonging to the family Eucoty-lidae Skrjabin,1924,secured from birds from Hainan Island,Guang dong Province,China.The type and paratype specimens are deposited in the Institute of Zoology,Acade-mia Sinica.1.Tanaisia (Paratanaisia) megalecitha sp,nov.(fig.1) Host: Chinese francolin,Francolinus p.pintadeanus (Scopoli).Location: Kidney.Locality: Hainan Island,Guang dong Province.Date: May 22,1963.Frequency: Only one specimen from a host.Discussion: The worm differs from the preciously described species in:(1) vitellaria extending anteriorly from the level of the pharynx,vitelline follicles largein size and few in number,only 14 in each row on either side;(2) postvitelline distanceequal to only half of the body length;(3) The eggs broader.2.Tanaisia (Tamerlania) microrchis sp.nov.(fig.2)Host: Backet-tailed tree pie,Crypsirina temnura nigra (Styan).Location: Kidney.Locality: Hainan Island,Guang dong Province.Date: May 29,1962 and June 5,1963.Frequency: Three and eight specimens from each host.Discussion: This species is characterized by: (1) the small size of the gonads,especially the testes;(2) the distance between ovary and testes;(3) vitellaria extending to the frontal level of ovary.
