Abstract

Objective:To investigate hemostatic and repair effects of human fibrin sealant (FS) on the partial thickness skin donor wounds in burn patients. Methods:A total of 90 wounds in 30 patients were enrolled in this study and randomly assigned to FS group,Natural Hemostasis group and Thrombin-treatment group. The self-corresponding wounds with same depth in all patients were used as controls.Postoperative hemostatic time and complete healing time of the skin donor wounds were measured and compared among the different groups. Results:The results of this study showed that the hemostatic time in FS group was shorter than Natural Hempstasis and Thrombin groups by 36 seconds and 13 seconds, respectively (P0.01).The complete healing time of skin donor wounds was (12.10±2.32) days in FS group, while it was (19.80±3.86) days in Natural Hemostasis group and (19.20±3.65) days in Thrombin group.FS group took much shorter time(P0.01).Conclusions:FS shown a evident hemostatic effect on the partial thickness skin donor wounds in burn patients. It also improved healing of the wounds and prevented against wound infection.
