Protective effect of hyperin on CCl_4-induced hepatic injury in mice

Abstract

Objective: To observe the protective effect of hyperin(Hyp) on acute liver injury induced by CCl4 in mice.Methods: A total of 180 mice were randomly divided into 3 groups,and acute liver injury was induced by ip 0.1% CCl4(0.1 mL/10 g).Mice were treated by bifendate or Hyp(12.5,25 and 50 mg·kg-1) for 7 days.Serum ALT and AST activities,and hepatic MDA content and SOD activity were measured.Histopathological changes in the liver were also examined.Results: In liver injury mice,obvious degeneration of hepatic tissue occurred.Elevated levels of ALT and AST activities were significantly attenuated after treatment with Hyp.The activity of ALT was reduced by 89.6%,86.5% and 78.3% after treatment with Hyp 12.5,25 and 50 mg·kg-1,respectively.Hepatic histological examination showed that liver injury was serious after exposure to CCl4,and the injury was not serious after treatment with Hyp 50 mg·kg-1.Conclusion: Hyp has a protective effect on acute liver injury induced by CCl4 in mice.
