Abstract
Objective To evaluate the changes of serum insulinlike growth factor-1 and left ventricular mass index in patients with essential hypertension before and after 6 months treatment by lisinopril. Methods Sixty patients with mild to moderate essential hypertension suffering from essential hypertension(EH group) and 60 healthy people(NC group) were selected. The serum insulin-like growth factor-1 level was measured with immunoradiometry and left ventricular mass index was determined with echocardiography. Results Compared with NC group[(132.53±35.62) ng/mL],the level of insulin-like growth factor-1 in EH group [(207.70±79.21)ng/mL] was significantly higher(P0.01).The levels of left ventricular mass index were(150.67±25.48)kg/m~2,(101.32±13.56)kg/m~2 respectively(P0.05).After 6 months treatment with lisinopril, serum insulin-like growth factor-1 was reduced to(156.82±36.40)ng/mL(P0.01) while left ventricular mass index was decreased to(112.01±22.34)kg/m~2(P0.05).Conclusion The patients with mild to moderate essential hypertension have the high levels of serum insulin-like growth factor-1 and left ventricular mass index.Lisinopril can decrease serum insulin-like growth factor-1 and regress left ventricular hypertrophy.
