Abstract
Objective To study the effect of the eight methods of emotional counseling on the life quality of patients with operable breast cancer during peri-anticancer chemotherapeutic period. Methods Eighty six patients with operable breast cancer who received treatment in Guangzhou Higher Education Mega Center Hospital of Guangdong TCM Hospital from January 2014 to January 2015 were selected and randomly divided into control group and observation group with 43 cases in each group. The patients in the control group received routine nursing intervention, and those in the observation group were given routine nursing intervention reinforced with the eight methods of emotional nursing counseling intervention. The conditions of anxiety and depression, the sleep quality and quality of life in the two groups were recorded. Results After intervention, the scores of self-rating anxiety scale(SAS) and self-rating depression scale(SDS) in the observation group were reduced than those before treatment, and the scores of SAS [(32.78 ±5.20) points]and SDS [(33.45±5.32) points] in the observation group were lower than the scores of SAS [(49.36±7.42) points] and SDS[(48.73±7.36) points] of control group, the differences were highly statistically significant(P 0.01). After intervention, all scores of Pittsburgh sleep quality index(PSQI) in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, the differences were highly statistically significant(P 0.01). After intervention, all scores of functional assessment of cancer therapy-breast quality of life instrument in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, the differences were highly statistically significant(P 0.01). Conclusion For patients with operable breast cancer during peri-anticancer chemotherapeutic period, the eight methods of emotional counseling can effectively relieve the anxiety and depression of patients, improve the sleep quality and the quality of life.
