Effect of Duhuojisheng Decoction on TNF-α and MMP-3 in Rabbit with Osteoarthritis

Abstract

Objective To observe the effect of duhuojisheng decoction on tumor necrosis factor-alpha(TNF-α)and matrix metalloproteinase-3(MMP-3)in rabbit with osteoarthritis,and determine the effect of Duhuojisheng decoction in repair of osteoarthritis.Methods Thirty rabbits were randomly divided into normal group,model group and treatment group,osteoarthritis model was established by anterior cruciate ligament transection(ACLT).Rabbits in treatment group were interfered by Duhuojisheng decoction.The levels of TNF-αand MMP-3 from serum and synovial fluid in rabbit with osteoarthritis were measured after treatment.Results The levels of TNF-αand MMP-3 in serum and synovial fluid in the treatment group decreased compared with those in the model group(P0.05 or P0.01).Conclution Duhuojisheng decoction can decrease the levels of TNF-αand MMP-3 in serum and synovial fluid in rabbit with osteoarthritis.
