Abstract

Objective To identify the I/D polymorphism of angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) and A116 6C polymorphism of angiotensin II type I receptor (AT1R) genes in patients with essential hypertension. Methods ACE and AT1R genotyping wi th polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and PCR combined with restriction enzyme dige stion were used to detect ACE gene I/ D polymorphism and AT1 R gene A1166C vari ations in 150 hypertensive subjects and 152 controls. Results The frequencies of frequencies of the ACE D allele in EHT groups of were hig her than that in the health controls, respectively (P0.05). But there was n o significant difference in the frequency of AT1R C allele between the two group s of EHT and NT(P0.05).Conclusions ACE gene contribu tes to the development of essential hypertensive, but AT1R gene is not associate d with hypertension. not to the incidence of BI in the hypertensive, polymorphis m in the gene for the angiotensin II type 1 receptor
