Abstract

Objective To evaluate the implementation of tuberculosis(TB) control project with World Bank loan/England grant in Chenzhou from 2003 to 2007,and provide scientific evidences for improving TB control. Methods The report forms and relevant data of the project during this period were analyzed statistically. Results A total of 62 884 suspected TB patients received clinical consultation, the average medical care seeking rate of the suspected TB patients was 279.78/105,which was 220.42/105 in 2003 and 352.09/105 in 2007.Up to 11 600 smear positive TB cases were diagnosed, including 10 047 firstly treated smear positive TB cases and 1 113 re-treated smear positive TB cases. The average registration rate of smear positive TB case was 49.65/105.Totally 10 263 smear positive TB patients had been cured, the average cure rate was 91.96%.The referral rate of smear positive TB patients increased year by year, and the differences were statistically significant(χ2=279.8,P0.01).Conclusion Through the implementation of TB control project with World Bank loan/England grant in Chenzhou, the goals of high case finding rate and high cure rate have been achieved, and the main indicators have reached the project requirements. However,it is important to pay more attention on the control of drug resistant TB.
