Abstract

Objective To evaluate the effects of carvedilol on ventricular function in patients with severe heart failure. Methods 42 cases of chronic heart failure were divided into two groups, namely therapy group 23 cases and control group 19 cases. The therapy group with carvedilol treatment, and the control group without. The amelioration of cardiac function in all patients after 3 months was observed. Results All effective rate of treatment of the therapy group and control group was 91.3% and 73.7%.There was significant difference in two groups(P0.05).Amelioration of cardiac function and left ventricular ejection fraction(LVEF) in the therapy group were significantly better than control group. Conclusion Patients with chronic heart failure treated with carvedilol is effective and safe.
