Abstract
Objective To evaluate the clinical effect of non-invasive positive pressure ventilation(NIPPV)in the treatment of acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(AECOPD)with typeⅡ respiratory failure. Methods One hundred seventy two COPD patients with type Ⅱ respiratory failure who were treated in our hospital during April 2010 to June 2012 were randomly divided into observation group and control group. The two groups were treated with conventional treatment. However, patients in the observation group also received noninvasive ventilation. Results Compared to the control group,pH,PaO2,PaCO2 and other arterial blood gasses,as well as the heart rate and respiratory rate were significantly improved in the observation group. The condition improvement rate was higher and the hospital days were shorter in the observation group than that in the control group. All the differences between the two groups were statistically significant(P 0.05).Conclusion Noninvasive ventilation has a very important clinical therapeutic value for the AECOPD patients with type Ⅱ respiratory failure.
