Abstract
Objective To research the prevention of Ophiopogon decoction on radiation pulmonary injury.Methods 72 healthy adult female Wistar rats were randomly divided into control group,the irradiation group,irradiation and traditional Chinese medicine group.One week before irradiation,control group and the irradiation group received gavage with 2 ml/200g of distilled water,traditional Chinese medicine group received 2 mL/200 g Chinese medicine daily gavage.After one week of continuous administration,the irradiation group and traditional Chinese medicine group received continuous exposure of five weeks.During exposure,body mass of rats were weekly measured.In accordance with the above dose,control group and the irradiation group received distilled water,traditional Chinese medicine group received Chinese medicine gavage to continue to the end of irradiation.5,12,26 weekends after irradiation,general situation,lung tissue general,lung coefficient and lung tissue HE staining of rats were detected.Results Radiation-induced lung injury rats from the first two weeks appeared symptoms of listlessness,loss of appetite,decreased stimuli,with irradiation increased the number of symptoms has been increasing.Ophiopogon decoction has the antagonism for this change.The lung coefficient in radiation-induced lung injury rats in the first five weeks was significantly higher than that of rats in control group,and Ophiopogon decoction can prevent the growth of the radioactive rat lung coefficient.Gross anatomical structure and HE staining show that inflammatory response appear in the first five weeks in rats after radiation exposure,pulmonary fibrosis in 12 and 26 weeks,Ophiopogon decoction can improve these status.Conclusion Early prophylactic treatment of radiation pulmonary injury in rats using Ophiopogon decoction can significantly prevent and improve the rat's general clinical symptoms,reduce the degree of pulmonary edema,inhibit or slow the progression of lung tissue inflammation,fibrosis,and promote lung tissue to restore function,has better prevention and treatment of radiation pulmonary injury.
