Abstract
A survey of butterflies in Bengbu revealed 47 species belonging to 6 families and 35 genera. The main components of the butterfly community were families Lycaenidae(12 genera and 13 species),Pieridae(6 gengra and 10 species),Nymphalidae(5 genera and 8 species),Hesperidae(5 genera and 5 species),Papiliounidae(4genera and 8 species),and Satyridae(3 genera and 3 species). In Bengbu,Lycaenidae is the richest in species and the other families are fewer by comparison, while Pieridae is the most in quantity and Hesperiidae is the fewest.Faunal analysis indicates that the butterflies are mixture of Oriental and Palaearetic components.
