Abstract
The diversity of butterflies in Yan'an City was studied from April to May,2005.The result showed that there were 36 species belonging to 25 genera,6 families i.e.Papilionidae 2 genera and 3 species,Pieridae 5 genera and 8 species,Satyridae 3 genera and 5pecies,Nymphalidae 7 genera and 9 species,Lycaenidae 7 genera and 9 species,Hesperiidae 1 genus and 1 species,in which 5 species were first recorded in Shaanxi Province. Species distributing in Palaearctic and Oriental region consisted the dominant species.
