Abstract
Styrene/butyl acrylate(St/BA) microemulsion copolymerization has been carried out with sodium dodecyl sulfate and sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonate as emulsifier, water soluble potassium persulfate(KPS) as initiator. The effects of initiator concentration(c(I)), total monomer concentration(c(M)), total emulsifier concentration(c(E)) and copolymerization temperature(T) on maximal polymerization rate(R_(max)) and copolymer viscosity-average molecular weight((M_η)) are investigated, and the reactivity ratioes of styrene and butyl acrylate determined. The results are as followed: R_(max) ∝c(I)~(0.15)c(M)~(1.60)c(E)~(-0.79)e~(-6549/T),(M_η)∝c(I)~(-0.31)c(M)~(0.47)c(E)~(-0.47) e~(2970/T);r((St))=3.93;r((BA))=0.28。
