Abstract

Purpose To evaluate the efficacy and safety of phakic anterior chamber intraocular lens(P-AC-IOL) implantation to correct high myopia. Methods 11 patients (20 eyes) with - 7.00 - - 30.00 diopters high myopia underwent P-AC-IOL implantation. The follow-up period was 3 - 6 months. Visual acuity, refraction shift, intraocular pressure (IOP), corneal endothelium counts, anterior segment slit lamp examination and funduscope checking were periodically performed after operation and then compared with preoperative finding. Results All of the operated eyes were successfully implanted. Postoperative findings showed that the visual acuity was best correted and myopia degree was reduced obviously. Compared with preoperation, postoperative IOP and comeal endothelium counts did not alter sufficiently and no severe complication occurred in follow-up period. Conclusion P-AC-IOL implantation to correct high myopia is a safe, simple, effective, high predictable and reversible procedure. It is necessary to perform further observation to evaluate its long-term efficacy.
