Abstract

Aim To observe the therapeutic effects and side effects of combination of all-trans retinoic acid and arsenic trioxide for treating acute promyelycytic leukemia. Methods All the patients received all-trans retinoic acid and arsenic trioxide.Homoharringtonine or daunorubicin was given if the white blood cells were high, and plasme or fibrinogen transfusions were given if disseminated intravascular coagulation happened. Results Among all the 29 cases,26 cases(89.66%) achieved complete remission, while 3 cases died of encephalic bleeding. Conclusion The therapeutic effects of all-trans retinoic acid combined with arsenic trioxide for acute promyelycytic leukemia were good.
