Abstract

Objective To understand the distribution and drug resistance of Shigella in food service workers in Shenzhen. Methods Based on the procedure identification of enterobacteria WS/T 125-1999 and disk diffusion method,the bacteria were isolated,identified and susceptibility test were carried out. Results 33 strains of Shigella were isolated and serotyped including 32 strains of Shigella B,occupied 96.97% and 1 strain of Shigella C,occupied 3.03%.Serotype A and D were not isolated.Among Shigella B,12 were Shigella flexneri 2(accounted for 36.36%),10 were Shigella flexneri 4(30.30%),4 were Shigella flexneri 1(12.12%).5 were Shigella flexneri X(15.15%),1 was Shigella flexneri Y(3.03%).Drug susceptibility test revealed that Shigella was all sensitive to gentamycin,levofloxacin,ofloxacin,norfloxacin,ciprofloxacin,cefamezin cefmetazole,furazolidone and resistant to midecamycin. Conclusion Shigella isolated from food service workers has changed a little.Forazolidone,ciprofloxacin and ofloxacin are the drug of choice in clinical treatment of dysentery.
