Abstract
Objective To investigate the feature of plasma Homocysteine(Hcy) level of patients with acute cerebral infarction and the related factors. Methods The high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) was used to detect the level of plasma Hcy in 108 patients with acute cerebral infarction and 30 control subjects who were recruited randomly. The level of plasma Hcy was re-examined two weeks later in 30 patients, and was compared with that on admission. Results The mean plasma level of Hcy in patient group was significantly higher than that of the control group( P 0.001).The standardized regression coefficients in regression equation of Hcy for gender and folic acid level were-0.278 and-0.239 respectively. There was no significant difference in the level of plasma Hcy between on admission and two weeks later( P 0.05).Conclusion The increase of plasma Hcy level might be one of risk factors of cerebral infarction; and the gender and level of folic acid were the factors influencing plasma Hcy level.
